Frequently Asked Questions
How long do the courses take to complete?
The Student Edition takes about 45 minutes and the Parent Edition takes about 75 minutes. Both are designed to be completed in one sitting, but you can pause and return anytime with lifetime access. After you and your child have gone through your editions, it’s encouraged to use this to start conversations about how to best prepare your student for success and ask if they have questions or concerns before they leave the safety of home.
What's the difference between the Student and Parent editions?
The Student Edition focuses on practical safety skills in language that speaks to students. The Parent Edition includes everything from the student course, PLUS 30 minutes of parent-specific guidance on supporting from a distance, recognizing red flags, and crisis management.
Do I get a certificate when I complete the course?
Yes, both courses provide completion certificates that can be downloaded and saved.
Is this a one-time purchase or subscription?
One-time purchase with lifetime access to this edition. No recurring fees, no subscriptions. Purchase once, access forever.
How do I access my course after purchase?
After purchasing, you'll receive login information for Teach:able, where your course is hosted. You can access it from any device with internet connection.
What if my student doesn't want to take the course?
The student course is designed to be engaging and practical, not preachy. It covers real-world situations they'll actually face. Many students find it helpful, rather than another “safety lecture”.
Is this appropriate for all colleges and universities?
Yes, the safety principles apply to all higher education environments - traditional colleges, community colleges, trade schools, and universities.
What age students is this designed for?
Primarily college-age students (18-24), but the content is valuable for anyone attending post-secondary education.
My school already provides safety orientation. Do we still need this?
Most school orientations cover policies and procedures, not practical safety skills. SaferStudent teaches real-world response strategies and family communication that typical orientations don't address.
Who created these courses?
SaferStudent was developed by campus safety professionals with years of experience in higher education security, law enforcement, counseling, and student services - people who've actually responded to campus incidents
What if I'm not satisfied with the course?
While we're confident in the value of SaferStudent, contact us if you have concerns about the course content and we'll work to address them.
Can I purchase courses for multiple children?
Each course purchase includes lifetime access, so it can be used by multiple family members over time.
How is this different from other online safety resources?
SaferStudent is the only comprehensive family-focused college safety education. We cover 8 critical domains based on real campus incidents, not just policies or single-topic warnings.
